Right Now | Excel at Execution

Updated: Mar 2, 2018

Thank you for all your hard work each and every day in the business. Lynn and I (David) both hope you have enjoyed employee appreciation week and thank you for allowing us to serve you. Also, thank you for your hard work while the directors were in Atlanta for our training. We have been asked to be a part of a training program with 36 other restaurants which will help create training for over 2000 Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide in the next few years. This training is called "Excel at Execution" and the definition is "to do the right thing, the right way, every time." We may have this as our intentions, but why as an organization do we struggle at this so often? Why is our order accuracy 85% instead of 100%? Why do we forget to repeat orders? Why do we sometimes take short cuts instead of doing the right thing, the right way, every time. We believe to help us improve there are some fundamental things we have to do better as an organization.

First is communication. We are committing to better communicate with all our employees. We will still use many channels like email, Facebook, videos, GroupMe, etc. However, for any information that we feel is important for the team to know, we will always send an

email (in English and Spanish) and we will post that email on our Team Updates board on the back walk in freezer door. As part of our communication strategy, we will also commit now to doing daily huddles starting next week. Leaders will commit each day to connecting with team members before they start work to share vision, goals, and make sure team members are set up for success for their days. This is a learning process for us so we ask for your patience as well as feedback and accountability to make sure we are doing these daily huddles each day.

Second, not only are we committing to better communication, but we are also committing to focusing on our vision of our business. We believe that if our entire organization knows and understands our vision, that we will be more aligned in our efforts each day. Therefore, we are asking each team member to learn and understand the vision of our business. We will provide each team member business cards with the vision. Leaders will be working with team members to learn the vision as well. This will be a focus for the next two months on learning our vision and creating better communication and daily huddles.

Then in March, we will have our first initiative which is order accuracy and we will tackle the challenge of improving order accuracy in our business. I know that this will seem like a lot of new things, but I promise if we commit to better communication and the vision of our business, we will be better aligned to tackle the big goals we have for our organization.

Thank you all for your commitment to growing our business and influence within our community!
